OpenOffice, WebDAV and cookies...

Hi,

I would like to open a document with OpenOffice through WebDAV... But Alfresco WebDav's server send a cookie to the client. OpenOffice cannot manage cookies and raise an error.

Is it possible to disable the cookies on the WebDAV server?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Do you know what the cookie id was ?. We don't use cookies in the WebDAV code (as far as I'm aware), it may be Tomcat/JBoss storing the session id in a cookie.

Cheers

Gary

Yes... It was the session id sent by Tomcat. Thanks!

I edited the context.xml file of Tomcat and set the cookies to false.

But it still doesn't work... Using OpenOffice, I cannot browse the Alfresco's WebDAV server. :(

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

After a bit of investigation I found a problem in the header returned by the webDAV servlet that forces a user logon, the realm id was missing from the WWW-Authenticate header value.

I've just checked in a fix for this.

Hi,

I downloaded and installed the last nightly build (16.01.2006) and now, I can open a document with OpenOffice via webdav. Thanks!

But I still have a small problem. I cannot save the document.

Using an other webdav client, I can download the document, modify it and upload it back into Alfresco. I should be able to do the same directly from OpenOffice, right?

Actually, I'm doing all these tests to check something. I would like to know if Alfresco manages the history (and the locking) of the document if I modify it through webDAV.

Note: I tried to enable again the Tomcat cookies and it works. There are not causing any problem.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

It should be possible to load/save documents using WebDAV in OpenOffice to/from the Alfresco server, but I couldn't get it working here (using the latest OpenOffice 2.0) so I tried other WebDAV servers. I tested against Apache Slide and IIS 6.0 and both gave the same error that I was getting against Alfresco WebDAV.

I got some network packet traces of the WebDAV requests and it looks like OpenOffice does not send the basic authentication token in the header, the server responds with an unauthorized status, OO sends the request again with the token but gives up after a few of these errors are received.

I'll continue researching into this, see if anyone has a configuration where OpenOffice works.

Cheers

Gary

Hi,

I tried with OpenOffice 1.1.4 and it works... I will post a message on OOo forum.

Thanks for your help!
