I've got a 100% working Alfresco implementation via web, on the same machine as a Samba server. The samba server *must* stay working as-is, so I won't disable that. I've seen suggestions that I can make Alfresco CIFS work by adding a second IP to the machine and binding Alfresco's CIFS server to the second IP - so that \\main.ip\ pulls up the Samba server and \\alternate.ip\ pulls up Alfresco's CIFS server. I've added the second IP to the machine, and that works just fine, but Samba has automatically bound itself to both IPs, which is unsurprising given CIFS' failure to start when it detects Samba. I need to unbind Samba from and then bind CIFS to the second IP.
However, I can't find instructions on *how to do that* anywhere. Has anyone gotten this working? Can anyone throw me a link to resources on how to do this?
Running Alfresco Community Network 2.1.0 on Ubuntu 7.10 server.

Hi,
see this page in the wiki : http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Changing_Bind_Addresses_and_Ports_for_Samba_and_FTP
It works for us...

Looks good, I'll try that shortly and post my results.
Thanks!

Worked like a charm. The only issue is that the Alfresco instance, being well-used and full of documents, took almost 15 minutes to start responding to http requests from Apache after the restart. And that confused me greatly, but fixed itself.
