Imap sends cpu to 96%

Postby MMynsberghe on 05 Oct 2009, 13:02

Hi,

On our development alfresco installation cpu jumps to 96% every half hour. For weeks now, I couldn't figure out why.
Until this morning I deleted my Alfresco IMAP account in Outlook (the only imap connection to that server) ... no more cpu jumps since. And indeed, Outlook synchronizes every 30 minutes.

Anybody else expiriencing this as well? Anybody got an idea on how to solve this?

Thanks in advance
Mieke

Hi Mieke,

I had the same experience while evaluating 3.2 CE. Fortunately I found the CPU-Killer while testing but didn't step deeper in analysis since Paul H. stated that there a still some bugs in metadata extraction and using the template mechanism for showing standard files in the IMAP folder (there are several JIRA issues concerning IMAP). I will check the nightly builds since there are some changes checked in by dev concerning IMAP Fixes. Anyway you shouldn't use the IMAP-Adapter for production yet since it is easy to get even a big system under heavy load. Just comment it out unless it is stable.

I have the same issue. Additionally it doesn't manage to display the whole Alfresco folder structure in imap. If I try to syncronize the Imap folders cpu jumps to 96% but after one minute Outlook says that the imap server has closed the connection. If I limit the imap mount points to only some folders it works. Does anyone know how many folders the Alfresco Imap server can handle?
